Three step, or 3 step, footwork pattern, sequence of three footwork steps resembling a two step with a third step added during the sweep.

A three step was developed by Batch in the 1970s . Like many footwork patterns, it may have been unnamed until the 1990s . Take One can be seen doing a three step in footage of the 1981 Battle at Lincoln Center .

Any footwork pattern with three steps can be considered a variation.
